Kicking
and Punting Camp Jon Ryan's own
version of a boot camp.
The goal of the camp is to give as many Saskatchewan kickers and punters the
opportunity to receive quality instruction and to be able to improve their
kicking game. With this in mind Jon and his assistants hope to improve the
athlete's abilities and provide them with the instruction they will need to take
their game to the next level.
"So many times in high school, they pay so little attention to the special
teams, especially to kicking and punting. It seems like the day before the
season starts, they kind of have tryouts and whoever can punt and kick the best
is the team's punter and kicker. I think there's a lot more to it than that. A
lot of those kids do not receive the instruction or coaching needed to be truly
successful. It's not the coaches' fault, as they might not have the experience
needed in the kicking game. I truly think this camp gives those kids an
opportunity to better themselves for the upcoming season and their future at the
next level." - Jon Ryan
Camp information will be posted annually as details become available. The camp
will be run over two days with sessions running Friday from 6 p.m. until dusk
and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jon will also have fellow kickers from the
other post-secondary programs in attendance, helping to ensure a solid
coach-to-players ratio.
All proceeds go to the Bob Ryan Scholarship Fund.
